Alexandra Johnston

Executive Producer and Presenter

Alex has been a lover of dolphins for as long as she can remember, and more specifically orcas since watching the movie Free Willy! Alex is a volunteer for Ric O'Barry's Dolphin Project and can be seen in 'Converse - Public Access Campaign' talking about her marine activism. She spent time attending and documenting protests against dolphin slaughter and capture and has also acted as a Cove Monitor in Taiji, Japan, documenting the slaughter and capture of multiple dolphin species for captivity. Her day time job as a Talent Agent could not contrast anymore with her life as an activist and advocate for the oceans and she has always wanted to find a way to combine the two. Alex studied Acting and Hosting for Camera at the New York Film Academy in L.A. On her return to the U.K. she began working for Louise Johnston Management managing actors and actresses, one of who was Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams.

Personal Note: My mum frequently tells me a story from my childhood - I was 3 on a boat ride with my parents and I explained, as well as a 3 year old can, that I needed to get off the boat and into the water because I was going to live with the orcas. Surprisingly, my mum didn't throw me overboard! But ever since then my affinity with orcas has continued to grow stronger. It is so important to me that through this documentary, people get to experience the Southern resident killer whales in the same life changing way I have been lucky enough to. Being re-introduced to them as individual beings with personalities, emotions and strong family bonds. It is my job to be a voice for the voiceless and right now my soul purpose is to do that for the residents of the Salish Sea.
